Lucas from May 2007

Friday, June 08, 2007

I have just posted a movie here of Lucas and have 1 more movie to post. I had to post on this old blog (almost a year since I posted here) because I could not figure out how to get it posted to Homeschool Blogger.

I just needed to include some more pics of Angus, he hasn't grown since these were taken (thankfully) and I'll get some more of Emmy once I can get her to be still for a few minutes!!!

Angus has a beautiful head

This is Angus and Abagail in October 2005, she was just over 4 years old and just about as tall as Angus' head ;)

I have now posted new pics, I know I'm slow but it takes a lot of time I don't have :)
I have covered from mostly May till now. Lucas started walking in April, around 16 months old, Abagail graduated pre k in May and Katelyn graduated elementary school.
We have already finished one summer month, though I'm not sure where it went (mainly to the park I think) and we are back to an abreviated school time during the summer.
Katelyn will start middle school in August in a self contained special ed class with a great teacher, we are really excited and sad at the same time, she's almost 12.
Arthur will start 4th grade and will still be homeschooled, he's looking forward to something other than early American history which is what we did this year.
Solomon is going in to 2nd grade and is now ready really well and just finished his last math page till August.
Abagail will start kindergarten in August here at home, she has some books now to review letters and numbers and loves to "do her work" while her brothers work.
Lucas is walking, starting to run, climbing, and just this past week started talking up a storm. Tonight he was naming colors of the fireworks "boo, geen, and lellow" and he was naming them correctly but liked "boo" the best :)
Colin is gearing up for a change in jobs from a small shop to a large corperation. We are hoping for a more broad job and just more training in painting really.
I'm looking forward to another school year, another month of a great summer break, and the opportunity to keep seeing my children grow closer to the Lord, that has to be the best thing out there.
On the animal front (a big part of our lives) we now have 8 chickens, two of each type Rhode Island Red, White Leghorn, a Golden and a Silver Wyandotte, and Ameriucana. The first two lay now, about an egg a day each, the latter four don't lay yet, in another month the Wyandottes will start and then in another month after that the Ameriucanas. We got rid of our two fish, gave them away. A friend was trying to find her dachshund a new home and I was willing to foster and we fell in love. Emmy is now housetrained, so sweet with the kids, and mostly well behaved (she seems to like to eat the pink feathers from Abagail's boa but not destroy the boa Abagail already did that) but she still likes to bark at her reflection in the sliding glass door.
SO, that's our update.
I'm sure I'll post more pics sometime in..... September maybe? If not I'm sure I'll post costumes come October!!!

Arthur showed Lucas the button to push and he was just facinated with this spinning light up globe thing.

Even Lucas has one but he'd rather eat his chips

Katelyn even has one

Spin it Abagail

This is the beginnings of our carpet tiling that we are doing, there will be a white chair rail and white trim before the week is up.

Since I haven't updated this website in 3 months a whole lot has happened.
Lucas is now 1 year old, not walking yet unless prodded. He CAN walk but he'd rather crawl.
We are celebrating Arthur turning 9 today, unfortunatly Lucas has the flu and strep, and I think at least the boys have strep also. We have to get tested tomorrow.
As you will be able to tell by the pics, we have been busy not only with children but with building and redoing things around our house also.
We have built a new chicken cage, we almost finished redoing our playroom, and we have plans to get a new (not 20yo) furnace. This is all very dull to most but a very happy time for us.
Enjoy the kids and drop me a line to say how much you LOVE the new orange room ;)

Lesa

Now, this is a more current pic of the former paneled playroom, it's decidedly different now, will take a while to adjust to the ORANGE.

I think this fish had a crush on Solomon....

This is our chicken house that we spent a good month working on. This house was a lot larger than our old one but we had to lose two chickens to realize that the poultry wire we had on the sides had to be changed. Now we call this "chicken knox".

Lucas as a scuba diver

Last time we went to the aquarium he didn't want to go in there at all... this time all he said was "ide" because he wanted to go slide.

They also have rainforest animals, I thought this toucan was espically cool, I was unaware that their beaks were jagged.

This boys discovered that when you run your hand on the side of the otter tank the otter will follow you, they laughed so hard they started to cry!

really pretty fish

In this playhouse they have a Tv that has fish swimming (of course) and Lucas thought it was really neat, though not as neat as the slide!

This fish stopped to say hello

Lucas exploring the kids play area

hey, the fish make funny faces, why not the children that come to see them?

cool fish shot

more of our spackle torture, notice the newly sanded WHITE ceiling

This is a pic from our trip to the nearest large aquarium, Arthur

Arthur at the touch tank

Solomon finally sticks his arm in the cold water

This is our "favorite" wall of our paneled playroom.... the duck wall.

I can't believe November is almost halfway finished!
We are very busy around here. Katelyn is going to stay at her present school instead of transferring her to an inclusive MOID class, she's doing so well where she is! Her social skills, verbal communication, and attitude are doing so well. Getting information like colors, shapes, letter, numbers, etc to stick is still challenging to her though.
Arthur and Solomon are enjoying their work. We are doing early American History with Arthur, an intro to it at least. He and I are both learning a lot and Solomon is listening too. Arthur has just started copying George Washington's rules of etiquette, some are quiet interesting and no longer accurate (like picking bugs off of your friends and being polite with it, lets hope we don't get back to that!) but he is enjoying that a lot right now.
Solomon is learning to read so well it's amazing. He has his own Bible Story reader that came with his curriculum that he really likes reading and doesn't want to only read what's been assigned. We have to work hard to keep books at home for him to read because he reads them all so fast!
Abagail is loving her pre K. She learns tons of songs, is inspired to learn to read, and has made some wonderful friends. I'm so glad she's had this opportunity.
Lucas is now 10 months old, that's hard to believe, but he's a sweet little guy who is still totally obsessed with Colin and me. When Colin gets home from work he is all about Colin, for a little while. He loves for you to say "how big is Lucas?" and he stretches his arms up high in the air and we say "sooo big!", he thinks that's just great. He loves to clap when we say "yeah" also. However his most favorite thing is to admire the chickens out of the back door, he thinks those chickens are just the coolest thing he's ever seen!
Thanks for checking out the blog!

Oh, Solomon.... ever so silly.

Solomon doing some table work for homeschool.

Busy little Lucas, hard to get a picture of his since he likes to try to EAT the camera.

Close up of the boat

This is a boat Arthur made out of K'nex. However this boat would have sunk very quickly so I mentioned using plastic wrap would make it float, we did and he still likes to play with it!

The items he found to fill his dental tray, the butter knife is a nice addition!

Hey Byron, might have an apprentice later on!

We were playing Cadoo one night and Arthur had to act out a dentist. He pulled this off really well... though he went a little over the top!
